23A- My Unfair Advantages.

What’s up blog,

Here are my top ten resources that set me apart.

1.    Personal Experience- Many entrepreneurs start businesses without first being the customer of their potential business. This is something rare compared to others. Its value is that I know exactly what my customers experience. The only way it could be copied is if someone else was also in my position. There is no substitute for personable experience.
2.    Limited market. This is valuable because my business can grow in a market that is not competitive. It is rare because many industries are inundated with competitors. It is cannot be copied or substituted because once a market has several businesses, it will never be as easy to make a business successful.
3.    A high demand. Parking is a dynamic situation at UF, and is rare compared to other locations. The value of its demand is untapped. Furthermore, it is not easy to generate demand like this, and it can definitely not be substituted or re created.
4.    Easy development opportunities. The value here is in the fact that there is prime real estate in the midtown market that can be converted to parking for a low cost. This is not common, and companies usually find difficulty with establishing operations in cities without open real estate.
5.    Previous business experience. Many entrepreneurs start their business without being experienced in the industry before. For me to have that experience is rare and valuable. Many companies only hire experienced people, because it cannot be replicated or copied.
6.    Plenty of options. My firm will bring value and uniqueness because we will be working with students on an individual basis to provide a solutions for their parking. Many companies will not do this, making our service unmatched.
7.    Convenience. This is rare for UF parking. UF parking for students is usually out of their way, and a huge inconvenience. My solution erases that, and there is limited room for replication.
8.    Affordability. Usually when firms provide something others cannot, it does not come cheap. Even UF parking can be expensive. With my solution, I can offer students parking that wont break their budget, which is unmatched for convenient parking.
9.    Student Staffing. Many of the day to day operations will be handled by part time students. This creates an opportunity for both income and professional development for UF students. It also is not a business practice used by many other businesses, as they are designed to be run by people with professional experience.
10.  Expertise. While students will handle the basic operations of the business, our expert consultants in business, logistics, maintenance, and finances will oversee their efforts. Using this unique two part system, I will create a business model that will be difficult to replicate by rival firms.

With that said, I think the most valuable asset I have is my experience. I know how difficult parking can be for students, as I dealt with that during my at UF. It will allow me to connect to my customer base and expand my business more than any of my advantages

  1. Hey Louis,

I like how you pointed out high demand and limited market. Parking is hard to find and if you had access to a parking lot which you could sell. You could easily have control of the market. There is clearly a demand and some people would pay a lot of money to park. Limited market alone will sell your product all day. Great job.

  2. Hey Louis,
I liked your post for the most part as it went over a lot of information and had some clean specifics of your better resources. However, you saying that your experience is your top resource really grabbed my attention. Wouldn't you say you had more of an exposure to the problem at hand rather than experience dealing with it?
